Odyssean Journey

A passion for creating a difference
25 years since starting our journey together, we, Sanjukta & Prabir, are embarking on an overland adventure of 25,000km from U.K. to India, to go back to our roots.
While travelling along the ancient Silk Route, through 20 countries, we will be working with Rotary International to raise awareness about Diabetes.
Stay tuned to learn more about our experience, as we travel.

About Us

We have always dreamt of travelling around the world since we started our journey of life together in 1999.
Prabir being a doctor and Sanjukta being an educator, it wasn’t necessarily easy to find a lot of time to spend on travelling together, but we have always desired to see the world around, especially the places with rich cultural history, unusual terrains and unique lifestyles of people.
We were both born and bred in Kolkata, India. We relocated to the United Kingdom in 2003 and have lived here since. This journey from the East to the West of the world was both challenging and rewarding. We have our roots in Indian culture and developed with the Western philosophy. We have the best of both worlds. However, our travellers’ mind inside have always been curious and intrigued by the journey of Marco Polo and many others who have travelled the world in the other direction. Prabir was keen to overland following the historic Silk Route, joining the dots through which culture evolved and human history had a whole new dimension.

•Through our roles as Diabetes Specialist (Prabir) and educator (Sanjukta) we believe that knowledge and awareness is the biggest influencer in improving outcome relating to diabetes.
•Rotary and its members have been committed to eradicating Polio across the world for > 35 years. Our partnership with Rotary will help raise awareness about Diabetes across the 20 countries along our path.
•In Kolkata, where the journey ends, we will host multiple awareness seminars with Rotary Club of Calcutta Metro City and other Rotary Clubs of the district and the proceeds of our raised funds will be used for these activities & will contribute towards funding medical equipment for the HOPE hospital that treats a high number of patients with Diabetes.
